Records from burials in Saint Paul's Churchyard including deeds to burial plots, 1835-1952; burial cards recording all interments in each plot, kept during 1939-1950s, some with notes from calls, letters, or visits and sketches of plots; and interment books listing the deceased, date of death, age, residence, birth place, and in some cases the cause of death, 1824-1988; the earliest volume also contains extracts of interment records for the Comfort Sands family, 1788-1817. Also, one volume of burial records from Mount Vernon City Cemetery, 1880-1935, which was adjacent to the churchyard.

The Sands family was one of the original three families that settled in and owned what is now Sands Point, N.Y. Born in Reading, Berkshire, England, James Sands (d. 1695) immigrated to Plymouth, MA with his wife Sarah and their children, circa 1658. Along with several other men, James Sands obtained what is now Block Island, R.I. from the original inhabitants of the island, the Narragansetts, in 1660.
